Safeguarding at Dallam
At Dallam Community Primary School our children and families are at the heart of everything we do. This means that safeguarding is everybody's business, all of the time.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We review our child protection policy and procedures frequently, or whole school staff are regularly trained in Safeguarding practices and receive half-termly updates from our Stay Safe Team on relevant topics.
The Stay Safe Team meet fortnightly to discuss how to best support our children and families and any additional actions we can take to help.
We have close relationships with the Early Help team based in the Children's Centre next door to school and other professionals at Social Care and in the police service.

Operation Encompass
Our school participates in the Police led initiative called Operation Encompass. This is a partnership between Cheshire schools and the Police, which helps schools to better support any child where a domestic incident has been reported to Police from their home. Following a domestic incident, the Police will make contact with the child’s school via telephone and secure email (usually the next day) to communicate relevant information to a nominated, fully-trained member of the school staff. This will ensure that as a school, we are made aware early enough, to support children and young people in a way that means they feel safe, supported and listened to. It will also provide an opportunity for the school to offer support to the whole family.
Each school has two members of staff called a ‘key adult’ who are trained to liaise with the Police when required, whilst ensuring support is available to the child.
The initiative was launched county-wide at the beginning of 2016. It is active in all Cheshire schools.
